The state management of activity for measurement uniformity supporting is carried out by Committee for standardisation, metrology and certification of Energy, Industry and Trade Ministry of Kazakhstan (KAZMEMSTANDART).

KAZMEMSTANDART leads scientific and technical policy in field of metrology, fulfils the state management of activity for measurement uniformity supporting in the country, the coordination of metrology services’ activity.

The metrology service of Republic of Kazakhstan consists of state metrology service and metrology services of the enterprises and organisations.

The state metrology service contains Republican state enterprise “Kazakhstan Centre for Standardisation, Metrology and Certification“ (RSE Kazakhstan CSMC) with its 19 branches, Republican state enterprise “Metrology“ (RSE “Metrology“), State information centre of documentary standards, Republican state budget enterprise “Institute for improving the professional qualification in field of standardisation, metrology and certification“.

Before creation the Metrology Research Institute, the main activity in the field of legal and scientific metrology is carried out by RSE “Metrology“ and Almaty branch of RSE “Kazakhstan CSMC“ in following base directions:

RSE “Metrology” carries out:

development and expertise the normative documents in field of metrology;

analyse the level of measurements and development the government programs in field of measurement uniformity supporting;

definition of need for reference and measurement standards and prediction the development of country reference standard base;

testing of measuring instruments in pattern approval purpose;

activities concerning with working out and implementation the reference materials.

Almaty branch of RSE “Kazakhstan CSMC” carries out:

development the normative documents in field of metrology;

keeping the state and working reference standards;

supporting the reproduction of the physical quantities units sizes and their transferring from initial working reference standards to reference measuring instuments;

participation in activities for analyse of the level of measurements and developing the state programs in field of measurements uniformity supporting;

methodical management the activity of metrology services of the enterprises and organisations.
